Karlos Khalil

Karlos Khalil is a Puerto Rican belly dancer, choreographer, actor, director, playwright and producer whose career bridges oriental dance and theatre. Active in bellydance since the early 2000s, he began with training in ballet and modern dance before making bellydance the central focus of his artistic career. His work is particularly associated with fusion, theatrical interpretation and the use of acting techniques to give movement greater emotional and narrative meaning. Khalil has represented Puerto Rico in international dance competitions and events, including Bellydancer of the Universe, where he placed second runner-up in the Fusion category in 2013 and received the People's Choice award. Alongside actor and producer Ángel Manuel, he co-founded Estudio y Formación Actoral (EYFA), a Puerto Rican performing-arts collective that combines acting, movement and professional stage experience. He is also the creator of the Puerto Rico Bellydance Fusion Fest, an international festival bringing together bellydance, fusion, theatre and Puerto Rican cultural identity.
