Highlights
- Alexia Nadirah began dancing from an early age and eventually focused her training on Oriental dance, drawn particularly to Middle Eastern rhythms and melodies. Rather than building her technique around a single school or teacher, she continued developing through study with numerous international master teachers, gradually shaping an individual performance style.
- Her festival career spans approximately fifteen years. During that period, she has appeared at national and international events as a performer, workshop teacher and competition judge, while also competing herself and earning multiple awards and first-place results. More recently, her international activity has included participation in festivals in Cairo and repeated performances accompanied by live orchestras - an experience that has become an important part of her ongoing relationship with Egyptian and Middle Eastern music.
- Nadirah is also an established teacher in Cyprus. She teaches regular weekly classes in Nicosia, leads workshops across the island and mentors dancers of different ages. As a performer, she works across a range of settings, including cultural events, weddings, private celebrations and restaurants, and has also appeared on local television.
- In 2022, she expanded her contribution to the dance community by founding Alraqs Festival in Nicosia. The event was created as an international meeting point for Oriental dance and Arabic culture, bringing guest master teachers from abroad together with Cypriot artists for workshops, performances and competition. Nadirah remains closely involved both artistically and organizationally. At the 2025 edition, for example, she taught a Baladi choreography workshop alongside international and Cypriot guest teachers.
