Soheir Magdy

Soheir Magdy was an Egyptian dancer and actress whose screen career was concentrated mainly in the 1960s. She performed during a period of transition between the classic Golden Era aesthetic and later nightclub-oriented Raqs Sharqi. Her appearances document the continued importance of dancers within Egyptian popular film after the peak years of Samia Gamal and Tahia Carioca. She retired from the entertainment industry relatively early. Although her international profile remained limited, she is relevant to an encyclopedic database because she represents an otherwise under-documented generation of Egyptian performers.
