Danish Open Bellydance is an established international Oriental dance festival and educational event in Denmark, founded in 2012 by sisters Noura and Merrild. Originally held in Roskilde, the festival moved to Glostrup, near Copenhagen, in 2013 and developed into one of Northern Europe's prominent gatherings for Oriental dance enthusiasts and professionals. For more than a decade, Danish Open Bellydance brought together performers, instructors, choreographers, and competition participants from around the world. Its traditional festival programme featured international dance competitions, gala performances, masterclasses, intensive training, bazaars, and opportunities for artistic exchange. Over the years, the event welcomed internationally recognized artists and contributed to the development of a vibrant Oriental dance community across Scandinavia and beyond. The festival adapted to changing circumstances by organizing online workshops and performances during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, it held the final edition of its established large-scale festival format, followed by an emphasis on online educational activities in 2025. In 2026, Danish Open Bellydance introduces a new artistic direction through *Elements - The Immersion Series*, placing greater emphasis on intensive training, collaborative stage projects, creative interpretation, and theatrical performance. Participants work closely with international master teachers, explore different dance styles, and have opportunities to perform as part of a professionally coordinated stage production. Combining artistic development, cultural exchange, and an international dance community, Danish Open Bellydance continues its mission of connecting dancers through education, performance, and a shared passion for Oriental dance.
