Yasmina Ramzy

Yasmina Ramzy began her Middle Eastern dance career in 1981 and spent many early years performing throughout the Middle East. She later founded Arabesque Dance Company & Orchestra and developed one of Canada's major institutions for Middle Eastern dance. Ramzy also created the International Bellydance Conference of Canada. As a choreographer, she has created hundreds of ensemble works for companies in Canada and the United States. Her career has been particularly influential in establishing large-scale professional Oriental dance theatre and structured education in North America.
