Wael Mansour

Wael Mansour was born in Cairo and trained in Egyptian dance, folklore and ballet. During the 1990s he worked with professional dance companies before developing an international career. He later established himself in Europe, particularly Italy, as a performer, choreographer and teacher. His knowledge of Egyptian folkloric forms complements his work in Raqs Sharqi. Mansour is therefore useful to Raqs Atlas as an artist whose career illustrates the movement of Egyptian theatrical dance knowledge from national companies into the international workshop system.
