About
Biography
Soraya is a Moroccan-born dancer and cultural mediator whose professional career developed after her first formal belly-dance training in Morocco in 2007. Her early inspiration came from Egyptian screen icons and classical Oriental dance, but her work gradually expanded to include Moroccan, African and Latin influences. In 2015 she left a legal career in order to dedicate herself fully to dance, travel and artistic study. After settling in Montreal she developed **Soraya Art Factory**, combining performance, education and cultural projects. Her Moroccan background gives her work a direct connection with North African movement traditions that are often underrepresented within mainstream belly-dance education. She is particularly valuable for Raqs Atlas as an artist capable of linking classical Raqs Sharqi with distinct Moroccan and Maghrebi identities rather than treating North Africa as a single generic category.
