Ruxandra

Ruxandra is a Romanian dancer whose formal background includes study at the Floria Capsali Choreography High School and later performing-arts education. Her broader movement training encompasses ballet, contemporary dance, Romanian folklore, Latin dance, flamenco, African forms and Oriental dance. She spent extended periods living in Egypt and Benin, experiences that helped deepen her interest in the cultural environments surrounding the dances she teaches. Ruxandra has worked professionally for nearly two decades as a performer, choreographer and instructor. Her educational projects include both adult and children's programmes as well as work with Levantine forms such as women's Dabke. This broad but research-oriented background makes her an important representative of a European Oriental dance practice that actively engages with cultural context rather than treating every MENA form as interchangeable.
