Ranya Renée

Ranya Renée began her professional dance career in 1993 after earlier work in theatre and comedy. She became strongly focused on Egyptian dance, particularly Raqs Sharqi and Baladi. Ranya has taught and coached dancers since 1996, combining movement technique with performance skills and body awareness. Her instructional work places particular emphasis on musical interpretation, improvisation and the emotional logic of Egyptian dance. Based in New York, she represents a long-running American lineage of dancers who specialise deeply in Egyptian style rather than primarily in fusion.
