Nesma

Nesma is a Spanish dancer and choreographer who established a major part of her early professional career in Cairo. Between 1993 and 1998 she performed thousands of professional shows in Egypt, gaining direct experience within the Cairo entertainment industry. After returning to Spain she became an influential international teacher of Egyptian dance. She later developed Neo-Andalusian dance, a theatrical approach inspired by Andalusian musical and cultural history rather than presented as a literal historical reconstruction. Nesma has also produced music and extensive educational material, giving her a particularly broad influence on European Oriental dance.
