Morjana

Morjana is a French professional dancer who established her artistic life in Egypt and built a multidisciplinary career around dance and music. She works as a performer, choreographer, instructor and researcher while also playing darbuka and participating in musical projects. Her Cairo-based work has included collaborations with groups such as Estabena, Ehna Talata and projects connected with percussionist Said El Artist. Morjana has developed a particular interest in Egyptian folk arts and in practices such as Tahtib, approaching them through research rather than reducing them to stage props. She travels internationally for workshops while maintaining Egypt as the centre of her professional study and artistic activity. Her combination of dance, percussion and research makes her especially valuable for connecting Raqs Atlas's Dancers, Rhythms and Folklore sections.
