Mohamed Kazafy

Mohamed Kazafy is one of the major Egyptian master teachers specialising in theatrical folklore and the Reda tradition. His professional background includes extensive work with the Reda Troupe in Egypt and on international tours. Over several decades he developed deep knowledge of Egyptian regional dance styles as well as sophisticated theatrical forms such as Muwashahat. Kazafy became an internationally sought-after teacher and choreographer, particularly among dancers who wanted to study Egyptian folklore beyond simplified festival combinations. He has nurtured his own Kazafy troupe projects and has also played an organisational role within major Egyptian dance events, including the Nile Group festival environment. His career makes him an essential figure for preserving the technical and choreographic legacy of Egyptian theatrical folk dance after the generation of Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy.
