Mahaila El Helwa

Mahaila El Helwa began studying Oriental dance in Brazil in 2000 and quickly entered professional training. In 2005 she achieved a major international milestone by winning at the Ahlan Wa Sahlan festival in Cairo. That success helped establish her as one of Brazil's internationally recognised Raqs Sharqi performers. She continued travelling to Egypt for study while developing a substantial teaching and choreography career in Brazil and abroad. In 2017 she opened her own studio, expanding her work into long-term professional education. Mahaila's precise technique and strong Egyptian orientation make her an important representative of Brazil's highly developed Oriental dance scene.
