Katalin Schäfer

Katalin Schäfer began her broader dance education with classical ballet in the late 1980s and specialised increasingly in Oriental dance from 2000. In 2004 she became part of the award-winning Art of Orient company alongside several important Hungarian Oriental dancers. She subsequently developed her own companies, choreography projects and a long international career as performer, teacher and judge. Her artistic work gradually expanded from Oriental and fusion dance toward somatic practice, psychology and creative self-awareness. Katalin created **NEUture Dance**, a neuroaffirmative movement method combining body awareness, creativity and nervous-system regulation. More than twenty years of international teaching and her movement from stage Oriental dance toward interdisciplinary somatic practice make her an unusual and important figure within the European scene.
