Dandash

Dandash comes from an artistic family in Alexandria and began dancing from childhood. She developed professionally at a young age and became known as a distinctive Egyptian Raqs Sharqi performer. Her dancing combines strong musicality with playful personality and a grounded Egyptian movement quality. She later became an internationally invited instructor as well as a performer. Dandash is particularly valuable to the Raqs Atlas archive because her career represents an Egyptian aesthetic that developed outside the heavily Western-influenced international competition circuit.
