About
Biography
Anusch Alawerdian is an Armenian-born Oriental dancer whose career has developed across Europe and the Gulf. Her movement education includes ballet, folk dance and jazz before she became deeply interested in Oriental dance around the age of seventeen. In 2002 she established a dance school in the Netherlands and built a significant European teaching community. She later created the Summer Bellydance Festival, bringing international instructors and dancers together in the Netherlands. Anusch subsequently relocated to the United Arab Emirates and continued her professional work in Abu Dhabi, where she teaches and performs. Her Armenian heritage, European professional background and long-term Gulf residence give her a particularly international perspective on the development of contemporary Oriental dance.
