About

Biography

Ahmed Refaat is an Egyptian folkloric dancer and choreographer with more than three decades of professional experience. He began dancing around the age of nine at the El Gezira Youth Center, where he trained under Egyptian teachers including Mokhtar Mustafa. His professional development gave him a broad foundation in staged Egyptian folk traditions and regional movement vocabularies. Ahmed later became an international master teacher, appearing at festivals throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East. His work has also been connected with celebrations and projects preserving the legacy of Mahmoud Reda and Egyptian theatrical folklore. He is particularly valuable for dancers who want to understand Egyptian regional forms as structured traditions rather than as short costume-based sections added to a Raqs Sharqi show.
