Trumpet

ترومبيت (trumpet)

A brass instrument with a bright, brilliant and powerful tone. Arabic players can use bends, ornaments and phrasing to bring it into a maqam-oriented musical context.

Europe; adopted into modern Arabic orchestration

Origin

The modern valved trumpet developed in Europe during the 19th century, although trumpets as an instrument family are ancient. It entered Arabic orchestration through military bands, cinema music, jazz influence and modern popular arrangements.

Role in the dance

Trumpet is usually used for dramatic orchestral color, fanfares and strong melodic statements rather than intimate taqsim. It can signal entrances, climaxes and powerful stage moments.
